I am a sixth generation El Pasoan. I am also a sixth generation lawyer. I was raised with a legacy of standing up for ordinary people and I strive to fulfill that legacy. I grew up in Horizon City and graduated from Clint High School in 1997. I attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a degree in Political Science in 2001. I went to law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas finishing my studies in the summer of 2005.
In May 2006, I passed the bar exam and began work as an immigration and personal injury attorney at a Houston based firm that had an office in El Paso. I decided I wanted to try cases to a jury, so I took a job at the El Paso County Public Defender’s Office. During my time at the PD, I earned invaluable experience, tried dozens of cases, learned how to find weaknesses in the state’s case and about the complexities of criminal defense including bail bonding and pretrial motions.
I believe it is my duty to stand up for the common man against those who wield power. I returned to El Paso, Texas to serve the community that I grew to love. I take pride in standing strong against powerful interests and going the extra mile for my clients.
